Floresta Encantada do Papai Noel / Santa's Enchanted Forest

Nesse fim de semana fomos com a família Cazelato (Bart, Clau, Antonio e Carol) pro parque onde todo ano tem a "feira" de fim de ano. Varios brinquedos da hora: a Beatriz foi nos brinquedos radicais e na roda gigante. Logo, logo monto o album e publico pra galera.

This weekend we went to the Santa's Enchanted forest, and the Bart family was with us. Beatriz rode some cool rides, and also the big wheel. Soon the album will be ready.

Museu de Ciencias / Sciences Museum

De vez em quando a Beatriz vai no Museu de Ciências com a Cacau (graças ao passe anual da Rose, obrigado) e dessa vez era a respeito dos insetos. Elas adoram ciencias, e curtiram muito os insetos gigantes. É claro, os brinquedos que tem lá também ajudam...

Every now and then, Beatriz goes to the Sciences Museum with Cacau (thanks to Rose's annual pass, thank you) e this time was about insects. Both love sciences, and had a lot of fun with the giant insects. Of course, the toys help...

Key West

Fomos a Key West na "Bike Week", de 14 a 16 de Setembro. Os homens foram de motos e as famílias em carros. A viagem foi muito legal, o tempo estava maravilhoso, e curtimos muito a viagem. Aguardem o album de fotos que está quase pronto.

We went to Key West, for the Bike Week on Sept. 14-16. The men rode their bikes, and families followed by car later. The whole trip was really cool, the weather was perfect. We all really enjoyed this trip. Photo album is coming soon.

A craque / Soccer player

A nova craque: a Beatriz vai começar numa escolinha de futebol. E já está treinando com o pai... se segura Marta.

Visit to Kelly and Jr.'s family / Visita a família da Kelly e do Junior

No começo do mes fomos pra Orlando; a Claudia conseguiu um preço muito bom pro Hotel da Nickelodeon (logo mando album). Mas o mais legal foi visitarmos a turma da Kelly e comermos uma pizza. Tá aí a foto!

In the beginning of September we went to Orlando; Claudia got a good deal for the Nickelodeon Hotel (photo album soon). But what was cool was to visit Kelly's family at their place and have a pizza. Check it out!

Orlando and Universal parks / Parques da Universal em Orlando

Era o último fim de semana deles nessas férias, e a gente não poderia encerrar essas férias melhor do que indo para Orlando, e curtir uns dos melhores parques da cidade. Fomos nos dois parques da Universal em um dia; foi meio doideira, mas a gente curtiu muito.

It was their last weekend of this vacation, and it could not be closing it in better style than visiting Orlando and some of its best parks. Universal parks are cool; we did both parks in one day, and it was crazy! But we did enjoy the whole day.

Mais um / One more

Quem disse que burro velho não aprende? Olha eu aí, conseguindo completar mais um curso. Agora é estudar muito o material dos dois cursos pra conseguir minha primeira certificação do PMI (Project Management Institute). Pra quem não sabe, é como se fosse um ISO 9000 de gerenciamento de projetos; aqui na terra do tio Sam eles pedem essa certificação pra a maioria das vagas de gerente. Quem sabe...

Who said that old dogs can't learn a new trick? Look at me, I have just finished another course. Now, I got to study all the material I gathered and try to get my first PMI's certification. Here in the uncle Sam's land they value that (PMI stands for Project Management Institute) when your are looking for a manager position; it is like an ISO 9000 for Project managers. Who knows...

Fim de semana na fazenda / Weekend at the farm

Voltamos ontem de nosso fim de semana na fazenda. Na verdade, era um hotel fazenda, muito legal; tinha passeio de barco, de cavalo, de trator, pôneis, mas algumas outras coisinhas que qualquer hotel tem. O show foi a Beatriz pescando pela primeira vez; ela pegou 5 peixes na primeira meia hora, contra nada de todos os outros... A tiazinha que vinha ajudar a soltar os peixe do anzol até deu uma bandana como premio pra ela, hehehe. O passeio foi muito divertido (fora os pernilongos) e pudemos descansar um pouco das doideiras da cidade.

We came back yesterday from our weekend at the farm. Actually it is a resort, very cool place. It has all the amenities of a hotel, plus airboat ride, horseback riding, pony, fishing, etc. Beatriz had her first time fishing, and she caught five fishes in the first 30 minutes. The lady that would come to release the fishes even gave her a bandana as a prize, hehehe. The trip was great (despite the mosquitoes) e we could rest and forget about the city's craziness for a while.

Brinquedo novo / New toy

Após quase dois anos sofrendo a perda da minha motoquinha, consegui comprar uma nova companheira de estrada (ou de transito, por vou usá-la mais pra ir pro trabalho). Minha principal garupa fez questão de ser a primeira a dar uma voltinha. Estamos todos felizes: mamãe com a economia de combustível, eu e a Beatriz com a motoca...

After almost two years suffering with the loss of my old bike, I could buy a new road machine (or traffic warrior, since I'll be using it to go to work). My main co-pilot demanded to be the first to ride with me. We are all happy: mom with the gas savings, Beatriz and I with the bike...

Kerhart family came to town / Família Kerhart esteve na cidade

Look at that! Another member of the board decided to send his family over here; and amazingly, they found us! It was a short afternoon, but it was really good to see our friends. We wish the other members decided to do something like that. Come on, stop putting money under the mattress (or houses, etc.) and spend some good time in South Florida (you can even see us, schedule allows it).
P.S.: I just don't know why people call us days before they come, instead of some weeks in advance; we could have planned something really nice.

Vejam voces! Outro membro da diretoria decidiu mandar a família pra cá; e acredite se quiser, eles encontraram a gente. A tarde foi curta, mas foi muito bom ver nossos amigos. A gente queria que os outros membros decidissem fazer a mesma coisa. Vamos lá, parem de guardar dinheiro debaixo do colchão (ou em casas, etc.) e venham aproveitar um pouco do sul da Flórida (voces podem até ver a gente, se der tempo).
P.S.: Eu não entendo porque só ligam pra gente uns dias antes de vir, e não com algumas semanas de antecendência; a gente poderia ter planejado alguma coisa bem legal.

Vovô e vovó de férias / Grandpa and Grandma's vacation

O vovos estão curtindo as férias! Aqui estão eles com a gente na festinha de 1o. aniversário da Fabiana, filha do Fernando e da Fernanda. E curtindo a paisagem da Brickell ao fundo.

In-laws in town / Sogros na cidade

Very quickly, since It's been crazy at work. My parents-in-law finally arrived from Brazil last week. We are sooo pleased they are here. Beatriz even said it seemed she was dreaming. More news (and pix) as soon as I have a chance during a weekend (yea, I'm working in weekend as well).

Rapidinho, porque no trampo tá doideira. Meus sogros finalmente chegaram do Brazil semana passada. A gente está muuuito feliz deles estarem aqui. A Beatriz até disse que parecia que ela estava sonhando. Mais novidades (e fotos) quando eu tiver uma chance no fim de semana (é, tô trabalhando de fim de semana também).

Four weeks ago, my friend Rakhi delivered a beautiful baby named Justin. I did not have a chance to publish anything about him before; but now I got an exclusive picture of the Patel boy. Congratulations to Patel family!!!

Fazem quatro semanas, minha amiga Rakhi deu a luz a um lindo bebê, Justin. Eu nao tive oportunidade de publicar nada antes; mas agora eu recebi uma foto exclusiva do garoto. Parabéns à família Patel!!!

Citizen Police academy, graduation / Formatura da Academia de polícia do cidadão

Guess what? I've done it! After long 14 Tuesdays, I had my graduation cerimony at the Citizen's Police Academy. I have learned a lot on how the police department works, their different divisions, what every division does, how Miramar police is well equiped; and how their proud, hard-work team try their best to be always there, protecting and serving. It was a exceptional experience, and I met exceptional people. Now I can tell I met the mayor, the chief of police and a commissioner(all in the picture), among others... Let's see what's next...

Vejam voces, eu consegui! Depois de 14 terças-feiras, aconteceu minha cerimonia de formatura da Academia de polícia do cidadão, em Miramar (cidade onde moramos). Eu aprendi muita coisa legal: como a polícia daqui funciona, as diferentes divisões, o cada uma faz, como elas são equipadas, etc. Os caras são realmente dedicados e orgulhosos do que fazem(tudo bem, o salário ajuda). Foi uma experiência muito legal. No processo, conheci a prefeita, o chefe de polícia e um vereador (todos na foto), entre outros... Até a próxima...

Beatriz's day / Dia da Beatriz

Yeah, our little princess just got older. While Rakhi was celebrating her newborn (post coming soon), we had a big birthday party for Beatriz on the 20th. Our big girl is now 7. Dad is now setting the new "Beatriz's weekend" album up at Sony Imagestation, stay tuned. Happy birthday, Beatriz!!!

É, nossa princesinha ficou mais velha. Enquanto Rakhi estava celebrando seu recém-nascido (vai ter um post), nós fizemos a grande festa de aniversário da Beatriz no dia 20. Nossa meninona tem 7 anos agora. Papai está preparando o album no Sony Imagestation, fiquem ligados. Feliz aniversário, Beatriz!!!

Learning 2 / Aprendendo 2

It looks like old dogs still can learn a few new tricks. After (many) years of inactivity, I am back studying... Hopefully this certificate is the first of many.

É, parece que burro velho ainda pode aprender algumas coisas. Após muitos anos parado, voltei a estudar... Tomara que esse certificado seja o primeiro de muitos.

Learning... / Aprendendo...

Time really goes fast. Another day Beatriz was learning to walk. Then, run; months later, swimming (last weekend I had to tell that it is not fine go alone in the 6-ft side of the pool). Now, I have to run after her since she learned (in 15 minutes, no joke) how to ride a bicycle without the learning weels. Not bad at all; dad and mommy are proud.

O tempo voa. Outro dia a Beatriz aprendeu a andar. Depois, correr; mais alguns meses, nadar (esse fim de semana tive que lembra'-la que ela nao podia nadar sozinha na parte da piscina que e' quase 2m. de profundidade). Agora, eu tenho que correr atras dela, porque ela aprendeu (em 15 minutos, sem brincadeira) como andar de bicicleta sem as rodinhas. Nada mau, pro orgulho do papai e da mamae.

yea, yea, yea... it is that day in the year when you officially get older for Marcos. 37 springs have gone by for this man. He gave to himself, finally, the accomplishment of finishing the pateo furniture project. Celebration is on!

sei, sei, sei... chegou aquele dia do ano pro Marcos, quando voce oficialmente fica mais velho. 37 primaveras se passaram. Ele deu pra ele mesmo, finalmente, o prazer de terminar o projeto de arrumar as cadeiras e mesa do quintal. Vamos comemorar!

Police academy / Academia de polícia

The last two weeks Magal has attended the Miramar Citizens Police Academy, and it will last for 12 more weeks (every Tuesday night). He is learning how the police administration works, types of crimes, K-9, SWAT and as a plus, CPR and first aid. And it's free. By the graduation time you will get to see a picture. Stay tuned.

Nas últimas duas semanas o Magal esta participando da Academia de Polícia para cidadãos de Miramar, e vai durar mais 12 semanas (toda terça a noite). Ele está aprendendo como a administração da polícia funciona, os tipos de crimes, a unidade canina, a SWAT, e a ainda tendo curso the ressucitação e primeiros socorros. E de graça. Quando ocorrer a graduação voces terão fotos. Fiquem atentos.

SuperBowl 2007

The big game! We got together @ Léo's house, and enjoyed a delicious Feijoada and drink a few Caipirinhas, among other drinks... Go Colts!!!

O Grande jogo! A gente se reuniou na casa do Léo, e aproveitamos de uma Feijoada da hora e tomamos caipirinha, entre outras bebidas... Vamos lá Colts!!!

Last month Celso, Beth and Carolina (taking the picture) came to visit us. Finally someone from the board come to see the poor cousins... It was short visit, but very pleasant for all of us. We're looking forward the next family to follow their steps (with a little bit more time staying, if possible).
